Elevenses, Wednesday 22 January, The Museum Data Service
Museum Data Manager Arran Rees will tell us more about the Museum Data Service. This is a new free service that aims to connect and share all the object records across all UK museums, large and small. Arran will also talk you through the process of joining the Museum Data Service.
The Museum Data Service is a joint initiative by Art UK, Collections Trust and the University of Leicester, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
The service is bringing together data drawn from UK collections and sharing it for any number of uses. Summaries are being compiled of collections to give a national overview, along with gathering detailed object records and turning them into Fair Data – findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable.
Insightful, interactive and informal, come along to gain new insights from our guests, meet colleagues from the region, and connect with the MDN team. Everyone who works and volunteers in museums is most welcome, including museum freelancers who want to stay connected.
