Getting Your House In Order – Audit

Do you have the collections and information you think you have? This session will explore the Spectrum 5.1 Audit procedure – systematically checking the accuracy and completeness of the information you have about your collections.

At the most basic level, the procedure confirms that your records match the physical reality: you have all the objects you should have, correctly numbered and located where they are supposed to be. We will explore the difference between the Inventory and Audit procedures, discuss the benefits of undertaking regular audits and how you might approach this.

There are 22 places on this workshop. Places are available for museums in the north of England, priority will be given to those which are not regularly funded by Arts Council England or central government. If there are more than two delegates from a single museum booked on a workshop we reserve the right to amend delegate lists to allow museums from the waiting list to participate.

This session is suitable for trustees, managers, staff and volunteers, particularly those new to the audit procedure. The host will present information and there will be opportunities to work in break out rooms in smaller groups.
