Raising and Earning Money

We are now welcoming Expressions of Interest for the 2024-25 cohort to discover more about raising and earning money for your organisation.

The online programme begins in September and to be eligible your organisation must:

• Attend all five of the planned sessions on 26 September, 24 October, 28 November 2024, 30 January and 27 February 2025.
• Provide the name of a lead person who will attend all the sessions and a second person who will attend as required and deputise if necessary.
• Have management support for attending the programme.

Museum Development Adviser Alan Bentley will lead the programme, alongside specially selected external speakers.

Themes include:

• Introduction to fundraising.
• Sources of funding including grants, trusts and foundations and online giving.
• Individual giving and membership schemes.
• Sponsorship.
• Earned and commercial income.

This programme is for those new to bringing in money to the museum sector. You will benefit more from the programme if you have raising and earning money projects you would like to work on. As a member of the cohort, you will be able to discuss your project in the sessions to get insights from Alan and the other participants.

There will be places for up to fifteen organisations on the programme and applications close on Friday 28 June.
